Écrit en 1962 à la mémoire des morts de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le War Requiem mêle le requiem et les poèmes de guerre du poète anglais Owen. Il ne peut manquer d'émouvoir. La version de référence est sans conteste celle dirigée par Britten lui-même peu après la création de l'œuvre.

Cette interprétation est proprement bouleversante par son investissement et la façon dont Benjamin Britten vit son oeuvre. Des solistes enthousiasmants. Pas de doute, la version à posséder absolument.
